La la la la’s loading!

I love Autumn for so many reasons: rewatching Gilmore Girls, beautiful colored trees, knit sweaters and tights, snuggling under a blanket, snickerdoodle cookies, the list can go on and on.

Anyways, who does not love fall? And being in love during the fall? Even more romantic of a season. I love shooting at pumpkin patches for couples and families, it is wholesome and just unbrittled fun.

Without further ado, please see my location guide for fall photos in Sonoma County. P.S. I saved the best for last.

North Sonoma Mountain Regional Park

Sonoma County Tourism recommends visiting this local open space preserve for a beautiful backdrop of vineyards and rolling hills. The trees and vines turn into beautiful oranges and golds. They suggest: “Take the 3.7-mile section of the Sonoma Mountain Bay Area Ridge Trail to walk through the gorgeous foliage in pleasant fall weather. Begin in the ferns and redwoods on Matanzas Creek, then wind through dense groves of oaks and bay laurels sprinkled with all the autumnal hues.”

Sonoma Botanical Gardens

For a more tranquil - but equally beautiful photo session, visit the botanical gardens for an array of colors. Incorporate both native California trees and more rare species into your fall foliage photoshoot!

Jack London State Historic Park

The famous author experimented with different trees and plant species, so the property is a wonder land of gorgeous fall colors in Autumn. His vineyards are set in the foothills of the grand Sonoma Mountain making for a breath taking photos.

Petaluma Pumpkin Patch

A classic pumpkin patch for a reason: corn mazes, food, masses of baby pumpkins, and pumpkins on the vine. I love this pumpkin patch because it is easy to take breaks, have a snack, and have a whole lot of fun.

Muelrath Ranches Pumpkin Patch

Best for last, my favorite little pumpkin patch. Located in Santa Rosa, well off the beaten path, lies a family owned pumpkin patch with plenty of pumpkin pickings to offer. They have a small haunted house and a corn maze that anyone can do. They offer scheduled tractor rides, and even have a pumpkin cannon! But besides the fun stuff, it is usually not heavily trafficed, offering some privacy for your photos. Additionally, they have a small pond which offers a pretty water element to your photos along with all the pumpkin aesthetic.
